The new MLP episode was pretty gross and hard to watch. I can’t believe they did that to Big Mac’s character, it was so OOC. 

Like basically, the joke was that he was in a dress, was speaking in a high voice and it was “embarrassing” for Apple Bloom. There was a bit where he sung and his Adam’s apple was really prominent and everyone in the audience was uncomfortable. 

It was just so transphobic. I don’t even know…

And I am not the kind to find transphobia everywhere but this is so different from what MLP usually goes for. The show tries so hard to say that girls can do whatever they like and be who ever they like but this episode basically said “but boys can’t”. 

As I said though, I am not from the “everything is offensive” crowd. I criticize trans politics constantly and have an issue with the “it’s offensive, shut up” tag that’s stuck on anything that makes people feel even slightly uncomfortable. 

Like they were being transphobic, I agree with that but I think this is more about the idea that boys, specifically cis boys, are not allowed to like dresses, that them doing that is laughable. This effects both cis boys and trans women. 

Also the entire thing where the old dude kept hitting on him and thinking he was attractive cause he thought Big Mac was a woman. That joke was entirely based in homophobia and transphobia. 

Urgh…
